Five of the best ‘postcard perfect’, chalet hotels

Hotel les Fermes de Marie, Megève

Don’t forfeit the charm of a cosy chalet for the facilities of a hotel. These five hotels are the pride of their resort due to their pretty, traditional looks and first class amenities.

The Hotel Gasthof Post, Lech
The hotel’s chalet is possibly the most photographed image in Lech. Bright green shutters, hand-painted hunting motifs and dark wooden-cladding make this hotel one of the most distinctive in the Alps. And it isn’t just its exteriors that make it so unique. A Michelin graded restaurant, extensive spa and cinema room wouldn’t be found just anywhere.

Hotel les Fermes de Marie, Megève
With so many postcard-worthy scenes in Megève it is difficult to pick the best. However, les Fermes de Marie has got to be up there. Its network of handsome chalets house guestrooms, the stunning spa and an impressive, chalet-styled restaurant.

The Hotel Albert Premier, Chamonix
The  ‘Ferme’ (French for farmhouse) annex of the main hotel is as pretty in summer as it is in winter with its rural gardens and window boxes. The Ferme is situated in the same plot as the main hotel and benefits from the same facilities, including a two Michelin star restaurant.  The jewel in the crown of this beautiful collection of old farm buildings has to be the spa with indoor and outdoor pool and view of the Mont Blanc mountain range.

Hostellerie du Pas de l’Ours, Crans-Montana
Its weathered wood-cladded exteriors compliment the picturesque panoramas that are readily available throughout the valley. Don’t miss the central fireplace in the hotel’s lounge which dates back to the Seventieth Century.

The Chalet du Mont d’Arbois, Megève
This traditional, chalet-styled hotel boast magnificent views of the snow pastures of Megève and is without a doubt a local spectacular in its own right. The chalet was previously a royal retreat and is steeped in history. The Chalet du Mont d’Arbois remains to this day under the ownership of the Rothschild family; local vanguards for the resort’s development.
