Five of the best snow-sure resorts

Hotel The Four Seasons, Whistler
The weather in the Alps can be a capricious thing. To minimise your changes of encountering poor snow, we advise high altitude resorts, preferably with glaciers for early and late season skiing. These five resorts have historically provided substantial snowfall throughout the season for the low season skier.
Zermatt is currently enjoying excellent piste conditions. The resort’s prominent and isolated peak, the Matterhorn, acts as the resort’s own snow-making machine. Zermatt’s micro-climate and glacier skiing makes the resort a popular resort for race teams that need to train all year round. At an altitude of 2,222m, the Hotel Riffelalp is a popular choice to take advantage of off-peak skiing.
Val d’Isere has one of the longest seasons in the Alps. Lift open in November and close in May. As it is usually resort level runs that suffer from poor snow first, we advise finding accommodation near a lift so you can quickly get to the top of the mountain where the best snow. The Hotel Brussels is ski in and close to the lifts of the Solaise and Bellevarde peaks.
At an altitude of 1,930m Obergurgl is renowned for its ability for retaining snow even into May . Its current substantial amount of powder is a good indicator that there will be good levels of snow at the end of this season. Chalet at 11 Degrees East is a beautiful, family friendly chalet there that still has availability for Easter.
Aspen’s altitude of 2,410m dwarves European ski resorts. It is currently besieged by champagne powder that the resort is world famous for. There is still plenty of availability in many of the Aspen hotels and many can offer flexible dates!
Although the resort centre is not at a particularly significant altitude, Whistler lifts are often open until the end of May. Our travel partners in resort are convinced it is the best season they have had there for many years. If you can ski later on in the season, Whistler hotels can offer some very competitive rates.
