Oxford Ski Team fundraising for the Disability Snowsport UK Skiathon

A team of us here at The Oxford Ski Company are taking part in Disability Snowsport UK’s National Skiathon! The challenge is to ski 666 runs in 6 hours at Sno!zone indoor ski slope in Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire.

An exquisite visit to Crans-Montana

Nothing gets you in the mood for Christmas more than an early season ski trip so having spent a couple of days in various ski resorts, the Oxford Ski Company is feeling particular festive. Good early snowfall, empty ski slopes, no lift queues and beautiful blue skis also helped encourage yule-tide good humour.

We only had a couple of days to slip away before the seasonal deluge of phone calls arrives so there was no better place to head to than Crans-Montana with its short transfer distance from Geneva and well linked ski area.

It’s snowing in Meribel…

What is more, it is due to carry on throughout next week with a particularly big snowfall of around 15cm due on Monday night. This is a promising early display for those skiing this year.

London to Geneva by train

Eurostar announced a multi-million pound investment in its fleet this week which could see a direct link to Geneva from the capital

Plans for a £700 million investment in the Eurostar fleet revealed on Thursday 7 October could see direct trains from London to Geneva in around five hours with the introduction of new ‘interoperable’ trains compatible across Europe’s high speed network.

The developments, which are due to begin in 2011, would give snow fans living in the South East an alternative to flying to the Swiss ski hub and additional access to resorts including Chamonix, Flaine and Courmayeur.

Eurostar, which runs Ski Train services during the winter season from London St Pancras and Ashford International to Moûtiers, Aime-la-Plagne and Bourg-St-Maurice in the French Alps, also plans to overhaul and refurbish its rolling stock.

The Farmhouse is considered one of the smartest renovations yet completed in Val d’Isère.
